Welcome from the Headteacher
We are drawing to the close of another busy and productive year, which has seen improvement and progress in all areas of school life.
Our outgoing Year 11 have been exemplary role models, for the rest of the school, in terms of their attitude, consistent efforts and sheer hard work. We are confident that they are going to deliver Cantell's best results yet.
Our new curriculum, with options and pathways to meet the abilities and interests of all students, has invigorated the experience in the classroom, and a move to one lunchtime is enabling us to offer more extra curricular activities throughout the week.
New pastoral care arrangements will begin next term with the appointment of two Key Stage Progress Leaders: Mrs Goodman to lead in KS3 and Mrs Lambert in KS4, with a main focus on the learning of all students in their care. They will be ably supported by Ms Fox in KS3 and Mrs Wright in KS4, who in their roles of Every Child Matters (ECM) Co-ordinators will ensure that the overall care of students is maintained to support good learning. Mr. Kennard will be joining our Inclusion team from September to support its work with vulnerable students.
Maintaining challenge, developing creativity, and encouraging commitment and co-operation, remain core Cantell values, to support all students to make progress and enjoy success. However, courtesy, with its emphasis on kindness, care and respect is at the 'heart' of the Cantell community and reflected in the comments of a recent visitor to Cantell, who said 'this is a calm and happy school ~ a place I would love to be part of '.
We look forward to welcoming our new Year 7 back on the 6th September and all other years on the 7th September.
In the meantime, I wish you all a restful and happy summer.
