Cantell is a diverse and ambitious comprehensive secondary school, located close to Southampton city centre.
We have high expectations for our student’s achievement and are proud of our continuing improvement.

In 2012 we achieved our highest ever GCSE results, with 53% of students securing 5 or more A*-C GCSE’s, including English and Maths. We are predicting that at least 60% of our students will secure 5 or more A*-C GCSE’s this summer.

Senior Finance Officer

Grade 11- from £36,313 FTE - 37 hours per week, 52 weeks or term-time only to be negotiated

Cantell Maths & Computing College is a happy, thriving and successful specialist school with nearly 1000 students. Our broad and diverse curriculum gives all our students the chance to shine; from those with special educational needs to the most gifted and talented, every student can realise their full potential here.

Following a restructure, we are now seeking to appoint a well-qualified and experienced Senior Finance Officer to provide strategic financial leadership to the school.

The successful candidate will be responsible for financial planning and management, developing and delivering financial strategy in support of the school’s strategic plan and objectives, whilst ensuring that the school operates in accordance with relevant statutory requirements.

With experience of finance management at a senior level and proven leadership skills, you will play a significant role in the development of the school as we continue on our journey to become outstanding in all that we do and prepare for the school’s possible conversion to Academy status.

With a relevant professional financial qualification, you will have previous successful experience of planning and delivering detailed forecasts and budgets, budget control and monitoring. Managing the school’s finance team, you will be responsible for preparing financial reports and estimates and completing financial returns. You will implement audit recommendations and develop internal accounting systems, ensuring these are kept accurate and up-to-date.

You will also possess excellent communication skills, particularly when presenting financial information to the senior leadership team and Governors. You will be able to work under pressure, paying close attention to detail to meet deadlines. The successful candidate will be committed and will promote and support the values, vision and ethos of the school.

This is an exciting development opportunity for a highly skilled senior finance professional to join the school at a key time in a rewarding and professionally challenging role. Please note that experience of working in a school is not a pre-requisite for the post.

IT Helpdesk Technician

Grade 5 - £16,054 pro rata (actual salary £12,215) - 30 hrs per week, 43 wks per year – holidays to be taken during school closures)

Cantell is seeking to recruit an IT Helpdesk Technician to support the day to day running of the Systems Dept and to be first line support for troubleshooting issues.

The ideal candidate would possess a sound knowledge of ICT including Microsoft Office, database operations and some technical knowledge. A post 16 ICT qualification would be desirable.

Exam Invigilators

£8.21 per hour – flexible hours during the school year between 8.30 a.m. – 4.30 p.m

Cantell is seeking to employ a pool of Exam Invigilators to assist the Exams Officer and Invigilation Supervisor during exams with the general supervision of candidates.
Appointees will be employed on a casual basis and will be required at various times throughout the academic year, with the busiest period being during the summer term.
Previous experience would be desired but is not essential as training will be given. Punctuality and reliability is of great importance so that any disruption to the exam schedule is kept to a minimum. For further information please contact:
