Did you know, the tourism industry is worth over £100 billion a year to the UK economy and employs 3 million people? That’s 10% of UK jobs. On top of this, the tourism industry accounts for 10% of worldwide employment! Students who study Travel and Tourism at Cantell School will learn more about this exciting sector and develop practical experiences of vocationally linked coursework, visits to and from industry links, alongside academic knowledge of how the tourist industry works. At Cantell, we offer the BTEC Technical Award for year 10 and 11 students. This qualification has been designed so that students undertake coursework modules and a theory exam. In year 10, we complete component 1, worth 30% of your mark. We then work towards Component 2, which is completed in the first term of year 11. After this, we study for the exam, which is sat in May/June and worth 40% towards your grade. We look forward to welcoming you to the course in year 10 and helping you launch a potential future career in Travel and Tourism.
